Once in this Island

Once On This Island, the play my sister’s in, was performed twice today–in the afternoon and early this evening. I know this is such a cliche, but God, time flies so fast. I mean, my sister has been rehearsing for this thing the entire summer and today it’s finally over. Once On This Island is set in some tiny island that was conquered by France, but it’s pretty much your typical love story. Poor peasant girl falls in love with rich, half-black, half-French guy who loves her back but ends up marrying a half-black, half-French girl of his own class. The story almost works but the ending kind of ruins it all. The gods take pity on the broken-hearted, peasant girl and turns her into a tree that lives forever in front of the mansion of the half-French guy she was in love with.
