Eek, how scary huh? and to think that could have been one of the costumes for Halloween. Stacy emailed me about this.
What I am talking about is a Halloween costume created by a multi-million dollar company named Disguise. This costume has been distributed to 20,000 retail stores around the nation including Party City, Walmart, and Target. The costume consists of a black and white (Japanese) kimono, belt, vinyl half-cap, and rubber mask — a buck-toothed, squinty-eyed caricature donning a headband with the Chinese character for “loser” inscribed. Mind you, this costume is for young children.
A few of my close friends are currently working on a suit for injunctive relief against this company. Any and all advice would be appreciated. Meanwhile, please sign the petition if you find this costume to be inappropriate.
It seems the petition is working. The costume has been removed but the group will be investigating if “Disguise” will actually remove all the costumes by the 18th. What else can I do?
