Okay some were asking me what “debut” means in my journal entry. This debutante wrote a great deal about it. The Debut is a grand celebration of a girl’s 18th birthday and a way of presenting a young woman to the society (at least that’s the case in the Philippines). In Tracy’s debut I was one of the “18 candles” - they are for special girl friends who made a big difference in the debutante’s life.
Then there are the 18 roses for the special boy friends who like the girls made a big difference in her life. Why roses?It’s because roses had long been the best flower a guy can give to a girl. They may have been your past boyfriends or maybe your childhood sweetheart. They can also be your typical male friends, someone you’re hanging out with most of the time. They are also a part of the program. They are to dance with you. These roses mean something like virtues.
Hm, I wonder if I can get 18 guy friends by that time. he’ll try to come. That would be so cool…but of course travelling here will be quite expensive.
