My Aunt-godmother got me a Dana® by AlphaSmart as a graduation gift but I’ll probably get it on April when she visits the Philippines. As a writer, she uses one herself and swears that it’s so much more convenient than a laptop. It’s weighs only 2 pounds and uses alkaline batteries that lasts up to 20 hours! According to this site, Dana looks a lot like a laptop, but acts and is priced like a PDA ( runs PalmOS). This makes it an **ideal** tool for mobile writing of all sorts; reporters, authors, students, and businesspeople will all appreciate the light weight, responsiveness, and comfortable keyboard. The only downside is it has no internet connectivity but who cares? I’ll be using it for writing stories and other stuff. I’ve been reading other reviews from Pcworld, rpg.net and epinions. Cool! It’s probably easier to carry around in my backpack than the laptop especially when I’m in college where I have to commute from the dorm to the school grounds.
