We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving but just the same, Happy Thanksgiving to all Americans who celebrate it.
I understand that one should “Give thanks for everything we have and enjoy.”
Perhaps I should be thankful to my American great great grandfather. If he wasn’t adventurous enough, he would have never left Iowa to become one of the first Americans teachers to arrive in the Philippines. I’m quite proud he took that risk . If he didn’t come here, I wouldn’t have been born and you wouldn’t be reading my silly entries. Hahah.
Grandpa Alfred wasn’t a pilgrim but he “escaped” Czechoslovakia (then Bohemia) in the 1860’s for a better life in the USA . Incidentally, a few weeks ago, dad told us about this immigration law that he can claim American citizenship (only if we want to) through his great grandpa. Too late for me to acquire one through my dad, because I’m already 18 . Besides, I am proud to be a Filipino even if our country can get crazy.
