On being a Philippine Idol Judge

Taken from “Mr. C, ‘Idol’ judge: Tough job

RYAN CAYABYAB, on his first close encounter with “Philippine Idol” aspirants on Thursday, June 8 (sent as a text message to friends):

“First day at ‘Philipine Idol’ auditions done. I thought I was tough enough. No. Got so emotionally drained having to say no to all the pleading, pleading and crying, crying. Hay, naku. This is not fun anymore. Torture! Ha-ha-ha. But wait, sobrang daming magagaling! (So many talents!) Our country is truly blessed. And so am I, to see such enormous talent parading in front of me. Nahirapan kami to let go of the less talented—who were talents, nonetheless. Today (June 9) is another day of pleading and crying. And feeling blessed. Tough job.”

I know it’s not easy being a judge and it’s just a job. Ryan C is so unlike Simon Cowell. If that were Simon, he won’t feel any guilt at all.
