From Manila Bulletin Philippine Idol’s top 12 face controversies
1. Early in the competition, an e-mail purporting the “shocking truth about Philippine Idol” brandished that the contest has been rigged from the start and that a winner had already been chosen long before the 24 semifinalists were revealed. According to the e-mail, the entire competition is all but a ‘’money laundering act its producers are staging.’’
2. Here’s another dirty talk on the Internet forum exchanges -someof if not all the entire top 12 cast are allegedly into drugs.
The 12 cleared that most of them may be sick and the live shows are there to prove that but not one is into drugs.
3. Like the rising gimmick meter thrown against Philippine Idol, each finalist also gains more and more supporters each week. While it is positive that camps swearing loyalty to each contestant develop, so do intrigues among the supporters. This somehow affects the finalists as the show progresses.
Not to badmouth the Philippine Idol but maybe the PR of these finalists are responsible for these controversies. Like the article said “It is an ironic indication that the more negative the publicity flag waves against the finalists, the better the popularity clock ticks in favor of the show.”
The Top 12 finals were supposed to be staged at the Aliw Theater but the producers decided to stay with SM Megacinema. So this saturday, watch out for it at 9:00 PM.
