Mau Marcelo –As a young child, her mother first thought that she was a dancer, but it turns out that her Amerasian daughter had a talent for singing. As any loving mother who believed that her daughter was destined for greater things, she supported her every endeavor. So, that’s how Mau Marcelo became the “suki” of all the singing competitions held in her hometown and beyond.She was often ridiculed for her color or her size but this experience did not break her. Her winning in singing contests has honed not only her talent but has also helped mold her character. She has come to believe in herself and love herself despite what others say. This confidence is what keeps her going and ready to face life’s challenges.
Mau has the most beautiful voice in the Philippine Idol competition. Her beauty is beyond skin deep. But is she aceptable to mainstream Filipinos? I hope the voting audience can accept her as she is and what she could become. I hope to see Mau go beyond her R & B and soul. Let’s see hip hop, and rock and her versatility as a music artist.
