I was unable to attend the Metropop night at the SM Megacinema because my husband and I were busy all day. Besides SM Megamall had one of their crazy sales and we didn’t want to get crushed with the shopping crowd.

Based on the recent performances, this is what I have to say about some contestants:
1. Ken- His musical performance is not improving. Thank goodness he didn’t say he was sick this time. He is still around because of the text votes. If not for the text votes, he should have been the first one out instead of Drae and Reymond. These two singers are so much better than Ken.
2. Apple- I used to like Apple because of her rich tones but it’s becoming boring. Her “birit” style is not impressive at all. Lackluster in performance and for goodness sake, try to change your hairstyle once in a while.
3. Arms- I never liked her before because she was like any regular singer, but lately she has stood out because of how she adapts the song from the original rendition. Not only that, she has also experimented with her fashion style.
4. Miguel- I like his voice but he is so stiff in his performance. He needs to be more flexible
5. Gian- He is adorable but his song choices are not suited for him. He has shown to be a flexible singer in his past performances.
6. Mau- She has proven that she can adapt to any musical style even if it might seem awkward at first. Like her dancing during the soul night. But at least she tried unlike the boring Apple.
7. Jeli- Finally this uber-cool Jeli swayed her body to the song. I still think she isn’t Idol material but then she is showing us that she can be a versatile singer.
8. Pau- She/he has a brillant voice but can’t she change her fashion style from time to time?
9. Jan- This guy has improved a lot. With his good looks and voice, he is Idol material to beat Gian
and on to the ABC 5 audience and production
1. Gretchen moved to the second row which is good since she is free to talk with her friends without being too obvious unlike the last time.
2. The daughter of Gretchen in the front row looks very bored and angsty. My god, she looks so unhappy sitting there. With her indifferent look, I can’t help looking at her because she sticks out like a sore thumb. Why can’t the directors place former Idol contestants there so the front row audience look very enthusiastic. Being in a live audience, the coordinator always tells us to be cheerful, stop talking and not to use our cellphone.
3. Hadji Alejandro is an excellent judge. He can actually give specific details on a singer’s song style and performance. I wish their permanent judges continue to be more critical of the singers.
