Finally the long awaited American idol season 6 is launched. And the first stop is Minneapolis. Ten thousand american idol wannabes cheer on as the show opens. Jewel as the guest judge is a refreshing change.
My favorites:
Matt Sato- only sixteen but has a mature voice. He got the unanimous votes of the judges. He is a contender of the top 24. I bet
Denise Jackson, 16 year old born from a mother who used crack.
Perla Meneses, originally from Colombia. She was actually fun. Randy even said she was spunky. Jewel found her cute but her song is just somewhere in the middle. Maybe she won’t get that far but she will surely get exposure.
Michelle Steingas is “confident without irritatingly precocious.”
Sarah Krueger sang Somewhere over the rainbow in a unique way. It definitely complements her star quality image.
The weirdos
The tearful Jessica Rhode ,a Jewel fan says “I can’t believe it”. “This is unreal. I am not going to stop.”
Troy Benham. What funky beard.
Jesse Halloway- oh dear! He promised to have the best voice. Ahh. Simon found it excruciating.
Tashawna Moore- forgot her words.
Matthew the cowboy. And simon found it categorically pointless.
Trista with the rolling r’s came out really weird. Simon claims it’s the strangest audition ever.
I didn’t get the vocal coach name but he was in denial.
Dayna Dooley looks good but her tone was so bad. Simon can’t sing a note in tune. Randy says she is tone deaf . The surprising thing is she could sing quite well in front of her boss.
Jason Anderson . How weird using the juggling with the singing! Too bad he can’t sing. Why did he cry? Oh goodness, he was really out of tune.
Should not have made it
Jarrod Fowler- a Reagan Idol winner in the US navy saves the day of the defeat of men contestants. He gets in. Jewel warns about the pitchiness.
Rachel Jenkins, an auto body mechanic came out pitchy even if she started really out well. I have this feeling the judges became lenient because her husband is currently in Iraq.
Brenna Kyner- WHY??? WHY??? “I don’t understand why you won’t give me a chance”, she asks. She has a degree in vocal performance. Oh my dear. How did that happen?
Josh Flom- a rocker strains his vocal chords. He was given a chance to sing another song but he sang the same strained voice. Jewel was even worried that his throat would get damaged.
As usual, American Idol wannabes live in denial. “I can’t believe it “, is the most common phrase of angry spurned wannabes. The best thing about the show today was the talented 16 year olds who might make it to the top 24. Let’s see [tag]American Idol Auditions/tag] in Seattle tomorrow. The preview alone is making me sick. The Taylor Hicks copycat isn’t going to make it. What’s up with circus type of contestants? Maybe that’s the reason Simon dubbed it as the worst city.
