
FROM THE tens of thousands who tried to have a shot at being this year’s “American Idol,” a Filipino-American, AJ Tabaldo, got picked to be among the top 24 candidates.On “American Idol’s” website, AJ described himself this way: “I’m an ethnic mutt! I’m part Filipino and Portuguese with Spanish, French, Italian and Chinese (blood).” The 22-year-old guy, who works for a shipping service, considers as heroes his “parents… they have molded me into who I am today. They are great!”
Said to be fond of singing as early as when he was 5 years old, the R&B-influenced AJ shared that his proudest moment in life so far was “making it on ‘American Idol’ and being one step closer to my dream.”
