“American Idol” headed back to the ’60s to replay some of the best music from the British invasion, and who better to help the Top 11 along than LULU (”To Sir With Love”), who coached the girls, and PETER NOONE (”Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter”), who coached the guys.

The sixties is definitely one of my favorite themes. Most notable performances go to Sanjaya Malakar when he sang THE KINKS’ “You Really Got Me.” Another finalist is GINA GLOCKSEN who rocked to THE ROLLING STONES’ “Paint It Black.” Randy told her, “You are our resident rocker this season. It wasn’t my favorite vocal.” And lastly JORDIN SPARKS belted out the very dramatic “I Who Have Nothing.” Randy complimented her: “That was a very tall order for you. I keep saying every week, I am impressed with you. Great control. One of the best of the night.” Paula agreed, saying, “Each week, we learn how great your range is. Seventeen years old. It doesn’t matter. A good singer is a good singer.” Simon agreed, “You sang it beautifully, but I feel like jumping off a bridge, [the song choice] was so gloomy.”
