American Idol raised over $30m for the ONE Campaign to Make Poverty History last night.
In the show, ‘Idol Gives Back’ show, U2’s Bono - a leading spokesman for ONE - said “people say you can’t be the generation that ends brutal, stupid poverty, but we can and we will.”
The six ‘Idol’ contestants closed the program with the Bono and Dave Stewart-penned ‘American Prayer’, a song that they wrote about the AIDS emergency in Africa.
It’s also the first time that all six remaining contestants are staying another week . For the first time in the six seasons the show has been on, no contestant was sent home.
In the spirit of giving, the 6 contestants were given an additional week in the singing contest.
