I’m not a big NBA fan but I tuned into the finals last Tuesday just to watch a huge David Cook gig - performing the national anthem minutes before Kevin Garnett from the Celtics and Kobe Bryant from the Lakers take centerstage. This was Cook’s first appearance ever at a major sports event, and is part of a tradition of American Idol winners singing the national anthem before the NBA Finals kick off. I thought he did a really great job - he had a confident but not arrogant swagger, and perfect control of his voice.
