Joanna Pacitti Gets Disqualified

During this season’s American Idol auditions, I noticed that there were contestants like Joanna Pacitti who already have albums under their belt. I don’t have anything against her – in fact, I like how she sings and I like her energy – but I often wondered if the other inexperienced contestants stood a chance against someone who more or less already has a music career. Yesterday the American Idol judges revealed the top 36 contestants for season 8. I already blogged about that last week when I came across spoilers, and if you go down the list you’ll see that Joanna Pacitti is one of them. But the judges revoked their decision and gave the spot to Felicia Barton instead, because Joanna already has an extensive music career.

Joanna Pacitti’s Wikipedia and IMDB page shows that her songs have been included on movie soundtracks like Legally Blonde, and had a hit single in 2006 called “Let it Slide”. She also has a song that THE Britney Spears covered and included in Circus! The song is “Out From Under”, which she sang for the Bratz soundtrack. She has also appeared in an episode of What I Like About You as a singer called Amber.

Joanna Pacitti may have had a musical career alright, but I see it as a very minor one. I hope it finally gets somewhere now that she’s had her 15 minutes of fame.
