American Idol Season 8: The Wild Card Round

This week, group three of the top 36 American Idol contestants will be performing, with the highest vote-earners moving on to the top 12. But my favorite part of the eliminations round will be happening this Thursday. Can you guess what that is?

Yup, it’s the Wild Card round!

Eight or nine of the remaining contestants will be called back for the wild card round. These contestants are going to be decided on by the four judges. Those chosen for the Wild Card Round will perform on Thursday and at the end of the show, three contestants will be chosen by the judges to move on to the Top 12, in addition to the nine voted by the viewers.

I really hope the contestants get to sing brand new songs, because so many who have potential pretty much blew their chances choosing the wrong song! It’s useless to give contestants a second chance only for them to dole out the same awkward performance all over again.

I have a feeling that the judges will pick Anoop Desai, because he’s such a likeable guy. Ann Marie Boskovich was a favorite of the judges too, and so is Megan Corkrey – both of them are commercially viable. I kind of hope that Tatiana del Toro will be back, for the drama and entertainment factor, but we’ll see! As for the male singers, Brent Keith is good if the judges want a country guy. Oh, and how can I forget Ricky Braddy and his amazing vocals? I really hope to see him on Thursday!

Who do you think will make it to the Wild Card Round?
