Idol host Ryan Seacrest announced that Jessica Sanchez received the least amount of votes. She was then asked to sing on stage, while the judges deliberated on whether or not to use the season’s single “save” on her.
Eventually, J.Lo interrupted Sanchez’s performance on stage and said they were indeed voting to keep the young singer in the competition.
“Give me that mic, this is crazy!” J.Lo told Sanchez when she got on the stage with Randy Jackson and Steve Tyler. “You are not going home, go sit down! Go sit down!”
This is quite a shocker. Jessica Sanchez has never been in the bottom three and even scored three standing ovations from the judges in the past.
“We are saving Jessica without any doubt! This girl is one of the best singers in America, ever are you kidding me? Please vote for the best!” said Randy
Comments now abound online. One says “Americans probably are not yet ready for FilAm or KoreAm to win this contest. On the part of Jessica it will definitely lessen her self-confidence. From the outset, she always received positive assessment from the three judges and three times got standing ovation from them. Never did she received so much negative reactions for her choice of repertoires and she almost always received good reviews from the press. Funny these Americans, discrimination no doubt still exist in their culture.”
A commenter thinks that the whole elimination was scripted to make it more exciting , having a cliffhanger effect! IT’S ALL ABOUT THE RATINGS!”
Another commenter says “I don’t believe on voting, because base on her twitter , youtube, fan site- Jessica is only the contestant who got the highest number of followers, views et al,. billions of people sharing their thoughts to Jessica.”

Results of the voting in American Idol is primarily dictated not by race nor gender but by geography. A quick scan of the show is more popular in Southern states and Southerners tend to take it more seriously. A past study revealed that Southerners tend to spend more to make their homegrown talents win the contest. This explains why 6 of the past 10 winners came from the region. David Cook is from Missouri which is considered as Upland South, so make that 7.
Still, she is the only contestant that gets the most number of views in youtube videos, and most number of standing ovations.
Just in case, it is best to play safe and vote for Jessica Sanchez. One cannot be too complacent now.
