Nokia 6680

nokia 6680My mom got a Nokia 6680. I was kind of hoping that she’d buy a new digital camera so I could borrow it. (I’m a jinx when it comes to eletronics). I think the Nokia 6680 is quite cool but our local cell phone providers don’t even offer 3G technology not till 2007. While it has a camera, it’s only 1.3 megapixels. But the quality is quite good though. Even at night mode, it took clear pics. I find it quite heavy though. Interesting Trivia: You can pawn Nokia cellphones with as much as 75% of the value. Yeah, even robbers/snatchers prefer cellphones over jewelry or watches now.

new nokia 3120

nokia3120I got a new Nokia 3120. When will my mom ever learn that I’m such a klutz with digital junk? Why am I complaining? Mom said that she wants me to be organized and having a phone with a calendar feature might help. And that’s the main reason for the new phone. It doesn’t have a camera but that’s okay. I’m done with electronic and hi-tech products, anyway. Such a waste of money.

Tips for Cell Phone Users - Precautions

Cell-Phone-Viruses.com: Everything you’ve wanted to know about cellphone viruses. Some people realize their phone is infected only after running up a bill on those MMS sent from their phone. So far, these viruses can spread only with cellphones with Symbian Series platform. So much for technology.

Commwarrior virus attacks my mom’s cellphone

My mom was shocked to find a virus invading her phone today. It was sending multi-media messages (MMS) using the contacts in her phone. She found out it was a Commwarrior virus sent via bluetooth. Commwarrior runs on the Symbian Series 60 platform used on Nokia phones, so other operating systems will not be affected. More on that virus here. She told me she had an antivrus program (Simworks International) installed in one of those Greenhills cellphone repair stalls to remove the offending virus. A temporary fix is to disable MMS network in the setting. This will just prevent the virus from sending multi-messages. Wow, viruses are everywhere.

And be careful while shopping in Greenhills… Because of the hundreds of cellphone shops, one could deliberately send the virus. Keep “bluetooth” hidden.

My cellphone got stolen

Remember how my Nokia 7250i fell to the sea water last May? Well I bought a replacement Nokia 7250i soon after but today it got stolen from my bag while commuting via MRT from Ateneo back to Ayala station. It sucks so much. You know , I was saving my mom the trouble of picking me up from school and not to mention gasoline expense. In the end I lost my phone . It’s a good thing I wasn’t held up or else that would have been more traumatic. No more fancy phones from now on.

Early Valentine Gift

My mom got fed up with my cellular phone bills because I always go over my limit every month. Hehe. Finally she subscribed me to a Sun Cellular post paid plan which has 24/7 Call & Text Unlimited service within the SUN network . It came with a FREE Nokia 1100.

Now I have both Globe and Sun cellular networks. Okay so what do I do with this second phone? Simple, I will just pretend it’s a flashlight (the Nokia 1100 has a built-in flashlight) but the best part of it is : I can have unlimited phone and text to friends within the Sun Cellular network.

The stupid network giants, Globe and SMART are suing Sun because they want them to stop implementing its “24/7″ unlimited call and text service. (more here). Geesh , these two giants reap so much money and they can’t even give us cheaper service. Blah . blah. Now that Sun can operate with this type of 24/7 service, we know how overpriced the services of Smart and Globe are. Globe and Smart want it all to themselves. Boo!

“A new cellular phone company showed consumers that unlimited calls and free text within a network is possible. This is also the case in many countries like the US where unlimited calls and text are given free on certain days,” said Cruz, adding “Why can’t Globe and Smart, which use similar cellular technologies, do the same and serve the public good?”

AMEN!
