Today is June 6, 2006. or 06-06-06. Freaky. The number 666 is cool. Made famous by the Book of Revelation (Chapter 13, verse 18, to be exact), it has also been studied extensively by mathematicians because of its many interesting properties. Here is a compendium of mathematical facts about the number 666. Most of the well-known “chestnuts” are included, but many are relatively new and have not been published elsewhere.
The sum of the letters in the word SUPERSTITIOUS is 666.

And today, the Movie, The Omen is showing.
The prophecy is clear, the signs unmistakable: Armageddon is upon us. On 6 / 6 / 06, the omen is revealed…and our darkest fears are realized. THE OMEN, a contemporary thriller based on the 1976 classic film, centers around a young boy named Damien, the son of an American diplomat and his wife. Damien’s family is unaware he is destined to become the Anti-Christ – until shattering events reveal the terrifying truth.
I wonder if it’s as eerie as the 1976 version of the Omen.
Got this news tidbit from Sassy Lawyer:
A blogger got plagiarized by an Associated Press reporter. When the blogger contacted the reporter and senior editor, both admitted to having had the article passed on to them. They said they didn’t need to credit the blogger because they viewed their source as a blog. What the heck?Just because it’s a blog? If traditional media is to be responsible, it should learn to credit all sources . Maybe they don’t know how to spell out hyperlinks but that’s impossible because these news agencies have websites.
The argument is astounding really if not entirely antithetical to journalistic standards. What the AP and others are saying essentially is that, while “your work” is good enough for us to steal, you are not credible enough to cite.
This is the blogger the blog entry that was plagiarized; and plagiarized AP article and author.
I find this incredibly stupid!! Black Friday at Starbucks
Patterned after the flash mob concept, the Black Friday Protest calls on people to gather at a designated time and place every Friday wearing a black attire as a symbol of protest. There will be no programs or speeches. Instead, people will be given specific instructions on what to do, and the whole exercise should last about 30 minutes at most.
It’s safe, non-confrontational, and within the bounds of the law, even under a repressive one like PP 1017. The mere “flash” gathering of the people is the expression of protest.

On my way to school, the smooth traffic in EDSA surprised me. The EDSA shrine where People Power was devoid of people. Only policemen were there. Too bad. The 20th anniversary of People Power has no celebration. Instead we are faced with the possibility of civil war is eminent. When I got to school, a lot of my classmates were absent because their parents feared for their safety.
The Philippines is in the brink of another economic disaster. BAH! I’m leaving .
Our president just declared the Philippines in a “State of Emergency”. Now what the heck is that? Read my rant in a journal entry
*edit- I just heard that “state of emergency” means the state does not allow rallies. They can take over utilties or media. But the courts and due process are still around.
