Another coup attempt thwarted? or is it still brewing?
AN ARMY general has been taken into custody of Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Generoso Senga while a Marine colonel is being investigated for alleged involvement in a plot to unseat President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Senga said Friday.
Senga said Brigadier General Danilo Lim, commander of the elite First Scout Ranger Regiment based in Bulacan province, just north of Metro Manila, was taken into custody and Colonel Ariel Querubin was being investigated.
When will this ever stop? crisis after crisis . And to think tomorrow is the 20th year anniversary celebration of EDSA I People Power. What a shame for our country!@$@$!$!
He said the plot was to join — while carrying arms — the public rallies that would mark the 20th anniversary of the EDSA People Power revolt.
The good news is classes are suspended!
Asked the reason for the suspension, Hidalgo cited the commemoration of the anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power revolt and “security reasons.”
Whee!
The Associated Press has a Philippines Landslide Blog. Just so you know (I’ve received 2 emails already)… I don’t live anywhere near the mudslides site . It’s more than an hour flight away. *sigh* There appears no more hope for the children survivors buried under 30 feet of mud.
Filipino-American Brian Viloria retained his World Boxing Council light flyweight title.
I can’t imagine why anyone would get arrested for asking for quiet in cinema.
The former Sunshine Coast councillor said about halfway through the movie, a mobile phone started ringing nearby, a woman answered it and started talking.
“I put one finger up to my mouth to shoosh her,” Ms Clayton said.
“She ignored me - I then leaned across and touched her with three or four fingers on the top of her arm.”
The most annoying thing that can ever happen in a cinema is a ringing cellphone. And worst if the person actually chats.
She said the police took her to the food bar and explained that the woman had accused Ms Clayton of “invading her private space”. The woman had made a complaint of assault because Ms Clayton had touched her.
I also can’t imagine how touching can be an assault.
The police have more serious complaints to worry about than this stupid complaint.
Another tragedy strikes the Philippines but this time due to landslide/mudslides or is it?
Tons of mud and rocks yesterday tumbled down from the mountain after weeks of rains and swallowed a whole village of between 2,000 and 3,000 people, including a schoolhouse filled with children.
Some survivors were seen fleeing naked but hundreds were feared dead and the village of Guinsaugon in St. Bernard town had virtually disappeared from the map in the latest disaster to hit the calamity-prone country.
One official said the dead could run into thousands, but this was not confirmed.
A few years back, mud landslides also occured in that same province and the cause was attributed to forest denudation. I wonder if this is the cause this time. We never seem to run out of tragedies.

Today is the burial of Jullian Elienne Book, the 4 year old kid who tried to save her mother from being trampled by the people trying to get into Wowowee. She’s youngest ULTRA stampede victim. Her ashes were placed at a crypt (is that what you call it?) at the St. Peter’s Basilica, Commonwealth Avenue at 4:00 PM today. May she rest in peace.
I wrote more about her death in my latest journal entry in here.
