How hard was it to deal with all the controversy that was going on around you when you were on the show?

It was definitely difficult and it wasn’t how I intended things to go, but I tried to block it out as much as possible and stay focused on the competition. All that other stuff was completely irrelevant to the fact that I’m here to sing.

Visibility is important – does part of you feel that there’s no such thing as bad publicity?

Yes, it’s true that my name is more well-known because of it, but I’m not known for the things that I would like to be known for right now. I wanted to make a name for myself in singing. The pictures that have been released of me – the ones that actually are me – they were very personal and that is not how I intended to portray myself. I’d rather promote myself in a more classy way. And, again, that was private – that was not for the public eye.

Were you approached to pose in Playboy?

I heard about it but I was never approached.

Would you do it?

No. Right now I want to look at all the offers I get and sort out what’s best for me right now. I’m definitely not opposed to acting or modeling or something. I would definitely do pop music, but I would add my style to it – you know, a little R&B-ish pop music, maybe bluesy, jazzy.

The New Jersey-born Antonella Barba did manage to answer some questions. About her American Idol experience, Barba said, “Looking back on it, I’m very thankful for the opportunity that I’ve been given.” Antonella added that, “And I know that because I’ve been in the public eye, all this embarrassment has come with it, but in retrospect I still think it was worth it, because I would still like to move forward in a career in music.”

But what of the saying that no publicity is bad publicity? “I keep getting told that,” Barba said. However, the pictures that became public, “the ones that actually are me [were] very personal and that is not how I intended to portray myself or how I want to portray myself in the future.” It would seem likely then Antonella Barba may pass on offers she has received from Girls Gone Wild and adult DVD company Sugar to become their spokesperson. Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis had offered Barba $250,000 for the job, while SugarDVD started a bidding war by offering double that amount.

Though Antonella Barba said in the future, she would like a “more classy” image, Barba didn’t entirely rule out posing for Playboy. While she rejected the idea of posing for Playboy at first, she then said, “Right now I want to look at all the offers that I get,” saying she will stay in Los Angeles for a few weeks. “I’m definitely not opposed to [thinking about] other offers, whether it’s acting or modeling or something.”

“I want to strike while the iron’s hot.”

After showing Hugh Hefner the photos, he remarked, “She really looks sexy here.” Asked if he would consider making Antonella an offer to pose for Playboy should she be voted off ‘Idol’ early, Hef answered, “Very real possibility. Yes, absolutely.”

Hefner, who knows a thing or two about nudity in photos, says calls for ‘American Idol’ to remove the 20-year-old’s saucy pictures “hypocritical and dumb.”

Hefner told USA Today, “I think in America we have a very strange attitude toward sexuality and nudity, and it makes no real sense.”

Everyone thought that Antonella Barba would leave tonight since she didn’t perform as well. Nervous and with a bad choice of song, she got the flack from the judges. Unfortunately for the judges, her humongous fan base pulled her through. She might make it to the Top 12 finalists.

Even Antonella didn’t expect to make it. When Ryan said “I’m sorry…”

It looked like she was shocked because she thought Ryan was saying she was out or sorry… you’re IN! Of cours she was shocked because she knew she received very poor reviews.

A report from American Idol Results was Joke!

Tonight, the two guys and girls who received the lowest votes from the American people would have to say good bye. I thought based on the performance from the guys and girls this week, that it was kind of obvious who should go home. If we base it on vocals, potential and overall talent, than we should be saying good bye to Sanjaya Malakar and Sundance Head, it is sad to announce that Nicholas Pedro and A.J. Tabaldo are the ones who are leaving tonight.

Well, even though she sucked, America voted to keep Antonella Barba on American Idol, so she’ll be around a little longer. Now she sucks twice as much.

We received an email this morning from someone who prefers to remain anonymous:

When I first posted that entry I was thinking “what’s the big deal of sexy and naughty poses?” . A few stars here and there often have wild past. But thefollowing days, the oral sex photos sprouting on the internet literally made everyone scramble for a peek Antonella Barba photos .

What does the American Idol producer have to say?

Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe says he has not seen any of the Internet pictures, and only learned of the sexually explicit shots from EW. ”We have really good background checks on everybody, and we deal with that every season,” he says. ”It’s sad, isn’t it, that your best friends are the ones that come forward with information that will go to Smoking Gun or put your photographs on the web?”

All this negative buzz on Antonella Barba might catapult her to the top 12 finalist. Her name is now familiar to millions of viewers. Let’s just wait and see if this buzz will help her win or pull her out of the competition.
