Newsbreak Article on Philippine Idol

philippine idolMy husband just bought the January 1/15 2007 issue of Newsbreak. On page 32, there is an interesting Philippine Idol article of “Choosing our Idols”. It says that “the similarities between Philippine Idol and Philippine Politics are just too stark.

The similarities are indeed obvious . Here are list of similarities and quotes from the article.

1. One needs campaign machinery to spread the word.-
In the article “the mayor of Sariaya, Concepcion Doromal , offered to contact the 40 or so other town mayors of the province from whom she solicited a minimum 5000 pesos each” Also, some contestants were said to have supporters spending as much as 100,000 pesos a week and beginning to set up headquarters for voting and mobilization

2. Funding to support the campaign
An example of this was stated in the article “Another well-off supporter from Quezon, a lawyer approached Marcelo , spending from 15,000 pesos to as much as 40,000 pesos a week to see her through the next competition round. Each night like a dutiful campaign manager, he would distribute the prepaid cards to Marcelo’s supporters who would gather in one table just to text their voites within the prescribed two-hour period.

No More Tickets to Philippine Idol

Jove Francisco’s entry PHILIPPINE IDOL: TICKETS is true. I have been trying to get information on how to get extra tickets or even tickets that the public can buy. I have received emails for such request. I am sad to say that there are no more Philippine Idol tickets. I got this confirmation this noontime from our source (my husband’s friend connected with Freemantle)

Like Jove, my husband’s request was cut into half. I am not even sure I can get my reserved tickets for my family. Our source for the Philippine Idol tickets will be watching with us so that means its 99% guarantee that we can watch. In at least 3 shows, my reserved tickets were given away without our knowledge. The ticket ladies know we always have tickets so that’s how we got in anyway. Take note, I have watched the live shows from the beginning and yet our reserved tickets can be gone just like that. When I get seated in Araneta Coliseum this saturday, I will know for sure I actually got my tickets.

Until then, loyal Philippine Idol fans, the reality is ABC has given all the tickets away. The reality is PHILIPPINE IDOL IS A HIT!

Last week, we read the angry comments of disappointed Pow fans when she was eliminated last week . When Ryan A announced that Miguel and Gian could take a seat, I thought “No this doesn’t seem right. There is no suspense. No nerve wracking moment. All week there had been furor over Pow’s elimination”. Something was fishy . I knew it when Mau and Jan were left onstage. It must have been difficult for Mau to choose Miguel. All of them are deserving to be in the Finalists. Unfortunately, one has to be eliminated every week.

Tonight’s results showed some crucial revelations:
