I don’t think this is a big deal.
Professor June Entman warned her first-year law students by e-mail to bring pens and paper to take notes in class.
“My main concern was they were focusing on trying to transcribe every word that was I saying, rather than thinking and analyzing,” Entman said Monday. “The computers interfere with making eye contact. You’ve got this picket fence between you and the students.” Source
I prefer taking notes in class only because I hate bringing a laptop to school. Besides this is law school. The teacher has a valid point by pointing out that the students are absorbed in copying notes word for word and the students argument is that they can’t catch up with the lecture notes.
