In the website of songwriter and producer Kara DioGuardi is an announcement saying that she’ll be working with David Cook and David Archuleta on their albums. Definitely great news because she is one of the biggest names in the business. In case you don’t know who she is, Kara DioGuardi is one of the most sought-after songwriters and producers in the industry, having released over 250 songs on major labels, 80 of which have appeared on platinum selling albums. Her work is often featured in major movies, TV shows, movie soundtracks, as well as international commercial campaigns. As for the Idols she’s worked with in the past, Kara DioGuardi produced Kelly Clarkson’s Walk Away album and wrote several songs from there, as well as three of Bo Bice’s songs. There’s no word as to whether she’ll write David Cook or Archuleta’s songs or if she’ll be their albums’ producer though, but we can’t wait to hear what she and our Davids can come up with!
Cali Kat Phan of the Idol Forums was nice enough to post the photos she took of the top 10 American Idols as they arrived in San Diego! Judging from the pics, it seems as though our Idols were really open to hanging out with their fans and that the fans in turn were really mindful of others and waited their turn to have photos with them. Thanks for sharing, Cali!
The American Idol Summer 2008 Tour is going to start in just a few hours in Glendale, Arizona, and our top ten idols are leaving the show’s protective bubble and going straight to their fans all over the United states. In an LA Times interview with the AI ladies, they seem to be very excited about singing and performing for fun, without having to worry about Simon’s scathing comments. It’s now about connecting with the fans and simply enjoying the music.
Meanwhile, David Cook took the time to make a new vlog and update his fans about what’s going on with him as he prepares for the tour. I’m not going to spoil the rest of the video for you, but I will say that he’s bringing a video camera with him while he’s on the road so he can give updates himself - which I think is really thoughtful of him.
A quick visit to Jason Castro’s MySpace space shows that he uploaded some pictures from the American Idol tour bus! Along with the pictures were several bulletin posts:

Anyone who’s into video games and music must know that Guitar Hero is freakishly addictive. And anyone who’s a Guitar Hero and American Idol fan is going to love the American Idol 53-state world tour. Why? Because Guitar Hero will be traveling coast-to-coast with our favorite American Idols! Lucky lucky audience members will get to try out three of the newest Guitar Hero games, the newly redesigned guitar, the genuine electronic drum kit, and the mic. Not only that, but they’ll also get a sneak peak video demo of Guitar Hero: World Tour, which won’t be hitting shelves until fall this year.
You know what would be really fun to see though? The Idol contestants battling out their Guitar Hero shredding skillz onstage! Now that would be great marketing.
The Taste for a Cure charity event is also holding an auction that will benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California. Besides items and memorabilia from The Eagles, Chris Daughtrey, Bon Jovi, and Reba McEntire, David Cook’s autographed Epiphone Les Paul Special II Heritage guitar is also part of the auctioned lot. This is the very first guitar he signed after his American Idol win - not to mention that Les Pauls have superior sound quality that no other guitars can match.
The retail value of this unsigned Les Paul model is about $250. But with David Cook’s signature on the body, the current bid for the guitar is a whopping $5,000. Crazy, huh?
If you’ve got over five thousand dollars to spare, you can place your bid for David Cook’s autographed Les Paul here. Sounds a bit much but hey, it’s for a good cause. People have spent more money for far more frivolous things.
