American Idol Tour Rehearsal Photos

In this entry, you will see photos of our top 12 Idol contestants goofing off in between Saturday’s tour rehearsals. These pictures are actually from Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, and Michael Sarver, who posted them on their Twitter accounts. In fact, Danny says that they did a full run-through of the show and that everyone could really sing their lungs out.

Unfortunately, Adam Lambert and Scott MacIntyre don’t make an appearance in the photos but everyone else is here. Check out the jump for two more photos, including one where Allison Iraheta is being a total cutie. She’s so adorable, I swear! The American Idol tour begins at July 5. in Portland, Oregon.

American Idol Tour Song Spoilers

The American Idol Season 8 Tour is going to kick off real soon and so far, we’ve already got a bunch of song spoilers. The first one is really obvious: since every Idol winner performs the winning Idol song, it’s probably safe to assume that Kris Allen will be singing “No Boundaries”. Here are the rest of our guesses:

  • According to Danny Gokey’s Twitter account, he’ll be singing “My Wish” by Rascal Flatt
  • In his 20/20 interview, Adam Lambert says that he’ll be singing 5 songs during the tour. Two of these will be David Bowie’s Fame and Muse’s Starlight.
  • The Idol drummer Aaron dropped hints that Allison Iraheta will be singing Barracuda.
  • Matt Giraud might be singing Georgia by Ray Charles. This one is based entirely upon conjecture after he mentioned “reaching back to Hollywood” for one of his songs.
  • It’s also been confirmed that Adam and Allison will be performing their duet “Slow Ride” by Foghat.
  • KISS Rumored to Perform at American Idol Finale

The American Idol Finale is going to be the most exciting show, with so many Idol winners returning along with guest artists to entertain us while the suspense mounts. According to the latest issue of US Weekly, KISS will be performing on American Idol, though no official announcement from the band itself has been made yet.

If KISS really does show up, they’ll be the odd band out cos they’ll be performing alongside David Cook, Carlos Santana, Queen Latifah, Black Eyed Peas, and Jason Mraz, as well as Keith Urban who’ll do a duet with Kris Allen, and Cyndi Lauper who will duet with Allison Iraheta. Then again, apparently producers are trying to get David Bowie to do a duet with Adam Lambert! I wonder if 80′s glam rock will return if Adam Lambert wins?

Allison Iraheta is Eliminated from American Idol!

I am so shocked. If there was anyone who deserved to leave the show, it should have been Danny Gokey. He’s had a couple of decent performances but nothing that wowed my pants off, and as for last night? He was easily the worst. But instead, Allison Iraheta got the boot. Maybe she doesn’t have the widest vocal range but her phrasing is great, her voice is sexy, and she’s an overall better performer than Danny Gokey. She was absolutely stunning in her duet with Adam Lambert yesterday, and her solo song was amazing. Shit, I can’t believe they let her go!

I have a theory that the votes don’t really matter because the producers decide who will win anyway, and I think the producers have a bias against younger contestants. I mean, look at American Idol Season 7 – David Archuleta should have deserved to be American Idol. I’m not a fan, but he has a more solid fan base of giggly impressionable teenage girls and Disney Channel-heads. David Cook is pretty much a blah rock singer, walking in the shadow of Chris Daughtry, which doesn’t happen to be very long or impressive to begin with. Ugh. Can you tell that I’m still annoyed by Allison’s elimination?

Other interesting things that happened in the results show: Paula Abdul performed her new single called “I’m Just Here for the Music”. You can tell that she’s totally lip-syncing, so I don’t see why she bothered with a headset mic. As for her outfit it was so… 80′s. After Paula’s performance, a reunited No Doubt showed up!!! Gwen Stefani bounced around the stage with “I’m Just a Girl”. Apparently, No Doubt is writing a new album! How exciting, I loved No Doubt in high school and I never really liked Gwen’s solo crap.

It goes without saying that the flamboyant, talented Adam Lambert should be the next American Idol. Because if Danny or Kris bag it I swear to god I am not watching this show again.

American Idol Season 8 Top 4: Rock Week

Tonight’s top 4 episode is going to be very different from the previous seasons of American Idol. Instead of having the contestants sing two solo songs apiece, they both get one solo song and one duet. Slash, this week’s mentor, has been Twittering about how excited he was for tonight’s Rock theme. Will the contestants live up to his praises?

Slash on Mentoring the Kids for Rock Week

It’s a good thing that Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash is into social networking, because we keep getting these little tidbits on information on his mentor bit for Rock Week. All week, Slash has been helping out the top four Idol contestants Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen, and Danny Gokey. At first, Slash was reluctant about taking up the mentoring task, but he finally jumped on board when the producers gave him the freedom to do whatever he wants.

Slash Twittered that, “The contestants from AI picked some really cool songs for next week, thank god!” and that “Those AI kids can sing their asses off, especially Adam.” Apparently, the song list includes classic rock hits from the 70′s and 80′s. And because the judges wanted a new twist to the show, the contestants will be doing solos and duets, rather than two solo songs. Hmmm, sounds like we’re in for some trainwreck performances tomorrow evening.

Slash adds that, “Next week should prove to be very interesting.” Interesting in a good way or a bad way I can’t say, but either way it should be a fun show!

Matt Giraud is Eliminated from American Idol!

It looks like the judges’ save was totally wasted on Matt Giraud because America voted, and he’s out of the show! Not really very surprising, considering how he was off-key during Rat Pack night. But a quick recap of tonight’s show before we get into the gory details of the elimination.

The show begins with the top 5 coming onstage singing a medley of “I Got Rhythm” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing”, plus Danny and Allison’s birthdays get celebrated with a cake onstage. Then the results begin. Allison Iraheta and Danny Gokey are safe, and the bottom three is made up of Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, and Matt Giraud.

The suspense is prolonged when Natalie Cole comes to sing a rather pitchy rendition of “Something’s Gotta Give.” Up next is Taylor Hicks, with his new single, “Seven Mile Breakdown.” Simon looks disgusted.

Kris is declared safe, and Matt and Adam was left in the bottom 2! It wasn’t Adam’s best performance, definitely, but I’m surprised he was left with Matt.

After Jamie Foxx performs “Blame It”, it’s official: Adam Lambert is safe, and Matt Giraud is leaving the show. Like I said, it wasn’t really all that surprising. I wish Anoop had gotten this far into the show in Matt’s place.
