American Idol contestant Jason Castro was the third serious musical artist crush I’ve ever had (the other two were Daniel Johns of Silverchair and Brian Molko of Placebo, in high school and college respectively) and last Saturday, he broke the hearts of all his adoring female fans when he announced his marriage on Twitter.
Jason Castro’s new single “Let’s Just Fall In Love” is finally out! At first, I was put off by the cheesy title because it sounds like a cheap ballad, it but after giving it a listen here I found myself bopping my head to the music. It’s a lively, radio-friendly tune that sounds a little like The Kooks, minus the thick accent. I can totally see this getting a lot of radio play in the weeks to come.
Jason’s upcoming debut album is also available for pre-order at JasonCastro.Com. For $9.99, you can get a digital download of the whole album 24 hours before its November 2009 release. And as much as I love Jason Castro, I wouldn’t be crazy enough to fork over $399.99 for the Pre-Order Deluxe Pack, which includes an autographed limited edition poster, an instant mp3 download of “Let’s Just Fall In Love Again”, a personalized voice mail message (I’d hate to have to pay for a voice mail message), a bunch of other merchandise I probably won’t use, and access to a fan club I probably won’t participate in.
At long sweet last, Jason Castro – who I think is still hands-down the most adorable Idol contestant – is coming out with an album! People have been speculating about a record contract when songwriter/producer and American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi announced that she was working on several songs with Jason. And now Billboard Magazine spills that Jason Castro has signed onto Atlantic Records and is hoping to release the album by summer! And yes, he is still working on the album with Kara DioGuardi in LA. Look under the jump to listen to Jason tell you the news himself.
TweetIf you thought you were never going to see Jason Castro in American Idol after the 7th season ended, you’re wrong! Our favorite dreadlocked cutie makes a very brief appearance on the 8th season, and for a very sweet reason.
Meet Michael Castro, Jason Castro’s 20-year old brother. He auditioned for American Idol at Kansas City with a Gavin DeCraw song called “In Love with a Girl”, and Jason Castro came along for moral support! Will the younger Castro brother get a golden ticket to Hollywood?
Michael is one hell of a cutie and I do hope he makes it to the top 20 at least, but my fangirl heart still flutters for Jason. <3

A quick visit to Jason Castro’s MySpace space shows that he uploaded some pictures from the American Idol tour bus! Along with the pictures were several bulletin posts:

Rumor has it that Jason Castro will be playing the drums for David Cook during his nationwide tour and according to the forum monkeys at the Idol Forums, the rumor is indeed true. Now, the question on every fangirl’s mind (including mine) is how many songs will Jason be playing, and will he be playing without a shirt on? Unfortunately there isn’t much information out on the Jason-David duo, but if there’s anything you know about it, do tell us!
This is a Goodbye video to Jason Castro it made with clips form his two performances this week, clips from the result show and the celebrate me home video
